Vineyard Vollsmose is a church community which is a part of Odense Vineyard. Our first event was on 17th of September 2021.
At Vineyard Vollsmose, we want to be a contemporary and relaxed church community at eye level, where everyone can participate regardless of background, gender, ethnicity or religious beliefs.
– Come as you are!
We have a big heart for our fellow citizens in Vollsmose! We want to bring God’s goodness, joy and love to our Muslim friends. (You can activate English subtitles on the video)
Vineyard is a global church movement that started in California in the early 1980s. It was started by old hippies who had become Christians. Since then, it has grown to over 1,500 churches worldwide.
Vineyard came to Denmark in 1997 and today there are 7 churches in Denmark. The style of worship is relaxed. We want to include everyone and make a difference in our local area.
We have the same creed as the Danish National Church and work with all denominations in Denmark.
The name Vineyard comes from a passage in the Bible: Isaiah 27: 2-3, which is about how God cares for people and take care of them, just as a gardener in a vineyard takes care of his plants and makes them grow.
We actually believe in what Jesus says and want to live as He advises us to live. It simply means that Jesus’ words and life and the Bible are central to our teachings and practices.
We believe that God is already here in our world and can intervene, but His kingdom has not yet come fully, so our world is also filled with much pain and suffering, so we live with the hope that everything is on the way to become good and at the same time we also understand that the world is full of suffering and injustice. So concretely it means, for example, that we pray for people, and sometimes they are healed, and other times they are not.
This is a prayer we always pray. At Vineyard, we believe the Holy Spirit is available to us at all times. The Holy Spirit wants to renew, refresh, and restore us, so we all need to pray that prayer.
Jesus asks us to love God and to love people. So we want to be a church that shows our love for God by worshiping Him and at the same time we want to love people so we can help them where they need help – physically, mentally, spiritually, socially.
We believe that everyone can make a difference in the kingdom of God. Regardless of gender, background, age, ethnicity, we are all allowed to participate in God’s work of restoration. We are all ordinary people who, through God, can do extraordinary things.
You are loved no matter what state you are in when you come to a Vineyard church. We believe that Jesus can love us all for restoration. So when you are loved by God, you cannot remain the same.
We avoid any hype or emotional manipulation. But we believe that God can speak to us and intervene in our lives, but we practice it in a natural and relaxed way.
We will continually invest in and train and equip people to do what Jesus did and equip the saints for service. (Ephesians 4:12) We are all called to do our part in his kingdom.
We constantly want to plant new churches because we believe that many more need to hear the good news of God’s love.
